Physiotherapy Pain Association Update

The PPA have been busy in recent months, so here is a round up of some activities you may have missed.

The Louis Gifford Lecture 2020

Delivered by Prof Cormac Ryan, he described a public health approach to persistent pain with Flippin' Pain. This lecture can be viewed by members now.

Physiotherapy UK

The 2 day online event was hugely successful with 1300 registrations. The Managing Complex pain theme, with a mixture of informative and networking events was very well attended. If you attended and would like to write a reflective piece, please get in touch with Claire, PPA PRO. All registrants will have access to recorded sessions in December via the CSP website. The PPA are also hoping to run some follow up workshops.

Keeping in touch

The PPA survey and AGM identified that some members were not receiving emails sent from our mailing list. This may be due to a number of factors, so please contact the membership secretary, Emma Padfield to update your email address.

Patient Involvement

Patient Representatives, Christine P and Louise Trewern have been instrumental in so many of the PPA's projects and have just launched PIPPA, a patient involvement group, so more voices can contribute to the PPA's work. Find out more about Patient Involvement here.

Research and Publications

Pain and Rehabilitation recently published Issue 49 and are inviting submissions for the next edition. The PPA have also launched a small grants bursary scheme. Find out more about the PPA's research support and publications here.

News and Opinion

The PPA and its members have been busy. Despoina Karargyri has called for members to engage and collaborate with the PPA to ensure all the network's activities are inclusive. Here are news stories, blogs and podcasts that may be of interest.

Education and Resources

Throughout 2020, the PPA has been actively engaged in providing high quality webinars, courses and collating online resources to support physiotherapists and patients during the COVID 19 restrictions. We have also commenced a monthly Peer Support and Reflection group which has been really valued by those who have attended. The next group session is on 2nd December 2020.
