  • PPA Blog - Listening with intention: developing skills in narrative approaches

    Clair Jacobs is the PPA Education Officer and the Lead Physiotherapist at INPUT Pain Management Centre, Guys and Thomas’ NHS Trust.

    As Education Officer for the PPA, I am keen to develop a wide variety of learning for our members and others that supports, builds skills, informs and enhances our clinical practice. The PPA are delighted to offer opportunities to people working in health and social care to learn more about narrative approaches. Narrative practice has transformed my interactions with others - professionally and personally.

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome - Physiotherapy is key Webinar Q+A

    The webinar CRPS: Physiotherapy is key was delivered on 29th June 2021 and a recording is available to members.

    Unfortunately, there were some technical difficulties with the video featuring someone living with CRPS. To be respectful to the volunteer sharing her story we are unable to share this video more widely, but emphasise that her desire was to promote early awareness of signs and symptoms of potential CRPS and early intervention to optimise management.

    The presenters, Fiona Cowell (FC), Sharon Gillespie (SG), Selina Johnson (SJ) and Emma Mair (EM) have  responded to questions posed during the webinar below.

  • Psychologically Informed Physiotherapy Training Report

    In 2020, The Physiotherapy Pain Association , in partnership with The Health Innovation Network AHSN, St George’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Duke University, USA secured funding from Q Improvement Lab, a Health Foundation Initiative, to test innovative ideas to improve care and services for people living with pain. An evaluation report of this project – Psychologically Informed Collaborative Conversations (PIC-C) – now available to download.

  • NICE Guidance for Chronic pain (primary and secondary) published

    The NICE guideline for Chronic pain (primary and secondary) in over 16s: assessment of all chronic pain and management of chronic primary pain has been published.

    The guidance has been updated from the draft guidance that the PPA consulted on in August 2020. There PPA welcomes some small, but notable changes from the draft that were part of the PPA submission.
